Brief History
In 1982, as response to the unemployment crisis besetting
the country, Bicol University initiated a pilot program in Bicol that would provide self-employment opportunities to the graduates
of the University. This was BSBA Major in Entrepreneurship Program; develop in coordination with the UPISSI. Starting only
with a class of 15 students, the program graduated its pioneer class in 1986.
In 2002, revision of the curriculum was made based
from the result of tracer study of graduates, feedbacks from Department
of Trade and Industry (DTI) and key leader in the industries. Enhancement of the student’s skills in various technologies
was incorporated. The program was renamed from a major course of BSBA to Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEnt.)
The Entrepreneurship Program of Bicol University in the
College of Business, Economics and Management was able to produce graduates who are National Awardees for their Outstanding
Performance in Entrepreneurship endeavors, not mentioning the number of graduates who successfully established their own business
today.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
A ladderized curricular program which provides professional
and technical training for students to have proficiencies in ready for commercialization technologies; competencies in marketing,
proficiencies in enterprise planning and development; and competencies in establishing and managing business enterprise for
self-employment and employment generation for others.
Possible Career: Entrepreneurs, Manager, Business Administrator,
Business Development Officer and Consultant.

Instruction
To give professional and technical training as well as
provide advanced and specialized instructions in entrepreneurship education.
. To produce graduates equipped with managerial and technical
know-how in establishing and managing business enterprise, be self-employed and generate employment for others.
Research
To undertake researches and research capability enhancement
activities for faculty and student of the program.
Extension
To conduct extension activities through linkages with
the Alumni Industries, Communities, government, and non-government agencies.
Production
To initiate and undertake production programs/projects
that complement instructions, research and extension function.
Support Program
Youth Entrepreneurship Program for Students
Is a support program to the Entrepreneurship students
of the College of Business, Economics and Management (CBEM) - Entrepreneurship Department to develop them as future entrepreneurs?
The [program’s compliment the theoretical inputs of the students within the classroom through the conduct of Structured
Learning Experiences (SLE’s) and simulated business games. This is being implemented by DTI through conduct of Entrepreneurship
related trainings, assist in Marketing linkages and participation to trade fairs, provision of consultancy services and product
development to the students-mini companies.
The highlight of this program is the participation of
the students in the Orgullo Kan Bikol sponsored by the DTI held annually in SM Mega Mall Manila to showcase their produce
products.
Follow-up Extension Program
The students who pursue their business after graduation
are provided free consultancy services through the faculty who monitors and follow-up the graduates through EADCOOP.
Compulsary Savings Fund
To encourage the students to save and build up capital
needed when they undertake their small business practicum, the students are required to save P 2.00 daily. The fund is deposited
with Legazpi Savings Bank Daraga Branch monitored by the Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES).
Financial Assistance
BS Entrepreneurship graduates who pursue business but
lack financing or capitalization are eligible to seek financial assistance from either the DOST Academe-Technology Based Enterprise
Development Cooperative (EADCOOP). The latter is n Association of Alumni of the BSBA Entrepreneurship Course organized to
serve the financial needs of Entrepreneurship graduates. This cooperative of graduates received National Awards and Recognitions.
Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES)
YES is the college based organization of all entrepreneurship students.
The organization is the moving force behind almost all entrepreneurial activities in the college. It sponsors trade fairs,
income generating projects and has overall supervision of student’s related activities of department and business seminars.
